One of Elsy’s most powerful contemporary dances, La Fortuna chronicles the human being’s energy and cosmic energy of the universe. Elsy’s movements show good and bad fortune, rich and poor, good and evil. The dance makes use of four candles, representing the collective magnetic power of the cardinal points on the compass: East, West, North and South.
"Carl Orff’s O’Fortuna was perfect for this dance," Elsy says. However, she created her own rhythm to better exemplify the projection of her dance. La Fortuna was performed at the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations, in honor of the victims of the Mexico City earthquake of 1985. La Fortuna also appeared on Night by Night (Noche a Noche), at the time, one of Mexico City’s most important cultural TV channels.
